Hi :)

I've been making chain maille jewellery for about a year now. I love it! but I would like to learn more jewellery 'techniques'. Ring making, fretwork etc. Does anyone know if there are any courses in the Essex area for Jewellery for beginners? I know there are allot of tutorials online but I would prefer to be taught via demonstration and also so I don't have to buy a whole lot of equiptment to get started (at first :)).

Thanks in advance!

Karen

Hi Karen,
I've been having a go at chainmaille these last couple of weeks for the first time and all I needed was a knitting needle (to use as a mandrel), a drill, some wire and a saw to cut the jump rings with. Plus the pliers to work with. If you've got those tools, then you should be able to have a go. Like you, I prefer to learn by demonstration and having a go myself, but I have found this site very useful and have made a few links just by following the tutorial. http://cgmaille.com/

Hope that helps.

Hi Karen,
If you don't find any 'physical' courses nearby, you might find Andrew Berry's online tutorials would be just the thing:

Hi George,

Thank you for your reply. I came across this site yesterday. I spent hours searching the internet for courses. I found a few but not any general all round courses. This site looks good.
