William Spratling - he established a model for the artistic development and growth of the silver industry in Taxco and well deserved the title "Father of Contemporary Mexican Silver!"
In fact i find a lot the "Taxco" artisans inspiring....I put some pictures on my blog of Taxco & Spratling Silver (http://muranosilver.blogspot.com/2009/06/blog-carnival-historical-influence.html) - it's awesome!
Also love the work of Nick Hubbard (http://www.muranosilver.com/shop/nick-hubbard-c-27.html?osCsid=68030c4f195688b30f01d44ae639eaf9) - he makes very quirky pieces full of fun with lots of detail. He's one of the folks I stock in my shop.

Nic - Sophie Harley has just done so well, and as you can tell by her designs she damn well deserves it!

Not bright and shiny, definately not ordinary and actually not a jewellery designer. Amazing off the wall work which I love. Whoops maybe should have started a new thread.

there is some gorgeous work thats been linked to !! I have many favorites but currently particularly Sarah Parker Eaton (http://www.sos.bangor.ac.uk/plankton/galleries/parker_eaton/parker_eaton.htm) (and her collaborative work with Louise Hibbert) I love Ernst Haeckel's drawings and found these one day while googling him.

I'm afraid that all my jewellery heros are long dead, and we will never find out there names although it was probably something like Snorri, Thorbjorn, Analuf and Wulfgr. Either way I love the jewellery from 1000-1200 years ago
