20662067206820692070Hi Folks,

First day and I'm already picking your brains....

I've been dabling with some amateur jewellery making and I'd appreciate your comments and thoughts on whether any of these pieces that I've made would be marketable/desirable and if so, what you think would be the best route to market?

I'm no expert but would be tempted to buy most of them, they are beautiful and look very well made, unusual but not too unusual I think. Love them all :-)

The rings and bangles are fab i love em and also the last two pics, although the bangle could do with some neatening very saleable i would say, go for it :Y: have you thought of Etsy or folksy as a starting block

That's quite a hoard for a first posting! Looking good though, I'm sure you'll do well. Agree with Emerald about the cuff style bangle (the last pic you posted) needing neatening....although I love your twisted bangles and the other one from the first set of photos :-)

I'd say I liked all of them except for the bangle with the twist. But i still might have bought it?
This might help. I used to have a retail unit for 12 years and bought from wholesalers,If i still had a shop I would have bought them(but i did used to buy on the scales, price per gram). I'm quite out of touch now,and the market has definitely changed.
I am experimenting to see if worthwhile money can be made from the internet, and have started more seriously using ebay and etsy.
Give etsy a go,it only costs 20cence to list something and your pics are good. The least you get out of it is people can heart your stuff( like a thumbs up) still don't mean they are gonna buy the flipping thing, but it's a little boost and a bit of market research.
You might not make a fortune, but even I can say I'm an international jeweller on my CV now.
Banksy pendant to Aus
Graffiti nameplate to Canada
and a personalized rose tattoo pendant to Brighton..........Brighton tennasee(some where like that??)
That's all i've sold in the last two months though!!!

I'm not an expert - just a beginner! - but I really like your work. The last two pieces are my favourite. I think you have a real shot at selling your work. I'm currently setting up my own business with the help of Business Gateway and I play on selling my jewellery on etsy.com and craft shows. Etsy.com is great for handmade jewellery and it's becoming more accessible to people outside the US - they're introducing multiple currencies this year sometime.

Good luck!

Thanks Emerald. I completely agree on the bangle - it was a first attempt at working with this sort of thickness. As for Etsy and Folksy, I have looked at them, but can't quite see how to get your pieces noticed - the searching faciliies seem rather limited...

Thanks FVT. As it happens, the twisted bangle is one of the easiest to make :)

Thanks for the advice Shaun. The thumb's up point is a good one and will indicate if my designs are of intertest to anyone.

Tanks Ruth, useful to know about the currency thing - I can imagine that only working in USD puts some people off.

Wow! I love pretty much everything there. I love the pink stones in the ring and earrings on your second post and the first necklace - the drop the the four stones. Lovely!

Really nice jewellery, I like the designs....I'm not sure if the blue and pink stones go well together in the first piece though, personally, i'm not keen on the combination of those colours.
