How do you test metal to tell if it's silver? I was sure I saw a post about it, but can't find it now, I know you use a chemical on an out of site area, but which chemical?

Thankyou again Dennis. I think your cats are fantastic, I would love to see them moving, you are unbelievable skilled and a wealth of information as well. I'm sure this won't be my last thanks :-) ps I'm doing a little better with my soldering and have found a day silversmithing course not too far away that I'm hoping to get to in a few months.
