Anyone out there familiar with 3D modelling - CAD CAM software?

ArtCAM seems interesting...although my local college tends to use Rhino.

any views/reviews of either?

i have used both but only at a very basic level, to try them out with the view to purchasing 4 axis wax carving machine. With my basic knowledge of CAD CAM i cant really say there is much difference, although i found rhino interface to be easier to use, plus there is also more add ons available. Hopefully someone with more knowledge maybe along shortly.

Regards

Stuart

that's useful...Rhino does a special student price and seems to be a bit of a standard.

I'll see how much ArtCAM is - I've contacted them and waiting to find out.

Next thing will be saving up for a 3 axis router.

yes they are nice and expensive, for a good software and machine package your looking at between £15000-£20000

You could go for the big spend, but I was thinking more along the lines of;
Rhino - £200
Merchant Dice CNC router (fleebay no. 220495847651) for £2000.

Still a lot of money...
