Hi all,

I have been asked to make two PMC silver charms and attach them to a picture frame. I have never done anything like this before. Would they have to be soldered on? If so how? I have only ever soldered cufflink backs, I'm assuming the frame would have to be sterling silver or fine silver is that right?

You could rivet them on - solder wire to the back of the charm, drill hole in frame then rivet through
or Solder pin to back drill hole in frame and glue them in.
Depends what the frame is made of, if sterling then yes you could solder it (unlikely to be fine silver)
(might be best to ask her to send a picture of the frame)

Thanks Nic, I've just emailed her to ask what the frame is made of.

I've just got this reply:

It's a wooden frame.was planning on just supergluing the charms on to the glass bit,as I figured this would be better than attaching it to the wood. Would you be able to do them?

I'd attach it to the wood, would be messy on the glass ;)

Could she just superglue them on herself?

If you have to glue it yourself make sure that the two areas to be joined are clean and fit closely. But please, please do not use superglue as cyanoacrylate is not very strong. Use a two part epoxy such as Devcon, or Araldite Clear instead. If you are in a hurry there is a 5 minute version. Kind regards Dennis.
