Still not quite sure what you mean, but I think you're probably looking for a pendant motor. Try searching for foredom.

Thanks George but that isn't the one. I was looking for one like the Proxxon they used to do... maybe they stopped it:(

All pendant motors can be hung from a hanger or stand. That's the whole point of them. You have to buy them separately though.

Perhaps you're thinking of the hobby drill Hobby Drill Kit With Flexi Drive Set Rc230x - Cooksongold.com (http://www.cooksongold.com/Jewellery-Tools/Hobby-Drill-Kit-With-Flexi-Drive-Set-Rc230x-prcode-999-AVL3)

In my book that is a small pillar drill.

I think you can also call them a drill press, but that doesn't bring up anything useful on Cookies.

I use a Dremel in a Dremel workstation for this purpose, but I also have a flex shaft attachement so I can use the Dremel like a pendant drill. I also use the dremel in the workstation rotated so it sits horizontally in place of a polishing motor. Quite adapteble and useful if you don't have the space/funds for individual units.

thanks Lucinda, the dremel does a lot doesn't it... the Proxxon I was thinking of is similar to that. Was wanting to price compare

Yes the Proxxon is very similar though I am not sure they do a flex shaft attachment or that the stand to use it as a bench drill allows you to rotate it the same way as the Dremel.

Hi Lynn,

Cousins do two Foredom drill presses, both are reasonably priced, the more expensive has a dial indicator which can be very useful for precision drilling.
