this is the first bracelet I've made by cutting all my on rings. It took a while but I finally finished LOL!

There are a couple of imperfections (a couple of the rings look a bit too big) but they don't notice too much and I've learn a lot from it.

Hope you like it.

Well done Ani_b - I love dragonscale, and it's even more satisfying when you've cut your own rings :)

Just a little tip - try taking the picture against a less sparkly surface - it might be easier to see the weave that way.

That looks great - you should be well chuffed!
I tried this weave myself recently but it grew SO slowly. My chunky cuff idea was very quickly scaled down so I admire your perseverance. :)

Thanks everyone, it was a long process especially as I ran out of the first wire I used and had to unpick half of it, but I'm well chuffed with it and loved it even more when it came out of the tumbler lol.

Just one small query about attaching the clasp, about how the end rings fall when fastened, is that normal and is there any type of clasps that would suit the weave?

I don't know a thing about chan maille but tell me please, do you solder all the rings?

Thanks for the tip George. :)

Hi Lynnm,

All the rings are "closed" holding the jump rings with 2 pairs of pliers but not soldered, a bit time consuming but it gets easier. lol

thanks Ani... had a moment of horror there thinking of you having to solder that lot :'(.. might even have a go myself!

definitely give it a go! It's a bit time consuming trying to get a weave right but when you have it's amazing!:Y:

Ani, having wrestled with this problem for years, I finally discovered that using a longer tube clasp with some extra rings works brilliantly - like this:

It means none of the rings can flop over. The alternative is to taper the weave down to a one ring point and use a regular clasp, but you do loose some of the impact of the wide cuff that way.

Wow! Those are gorgeous. Wish I had the patience. Is it something you can do watching the telly, like knitting, or do you need to give it full attention?

Definitely in front of the telly Carole!

Definitely in front of the telly Carole!

Me too. :)

With my scaled down version, which has turned into a pendant/necklace, I've tapered down to a one ring point. It does make a very neat, stable finish but I agree that the full width looks better on a cuff.
Sorry, no pictures as I haven't quite finished it yet.

If you do a really wide version of this weave (basically a necklace length) about three rows deep it makes quite a nice chain/choker - on it's own or you can have dangles from the large rings.

sounds fab, Lesley................can't wait to see the photos.

I thought about making a choker and earrings but never quite got that far................yet.

That look much better than using the 3 strand clasp, and definitely gives it a wow factor.

Tip to spammers - it might help if you were a little cleverer about it.

And it's never a good idea to be slightly patronising if you're trying to get people to click through to your nautical themed jewellery sites.

(grrr..... another site I use has recently become overloaded with spam and my tolerance for it has gone waaaaaaay down.)
