Hello!
I've been meaning to join the forum every time I come on the Cookson site (i.e. every other day at the moment!) and finally got round to it today.
I'm a silversmith/jewellery designer, which I also teach for our local college and at home, and write about for magazines. You could say that I'm addicted to it!
I think I know a few people here - Sue C, if I've got the right person, I'll see you in class on Wednesday!

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Thanks for the compliment too, Lorraine - I've got more tutorials in the pipeline coming soon.
Good to see you hear George! Love your latest project in Beads and Beyond. The mix of copper and turquoise is one of my favourites.
Peter, I teach for Eastleigh College. Mainly evening classes at the moment. Eastleigh get 'bought in' by several secondary schools to provide their adult education, so I teach evening classes at Thornden and Bitterne Park school. I also offer private tuition at home and teach small groups at home. I like to keep busy!!

Ah, hadn't realised Eastleigh were providing jewellery teaching these days. I was dimly aware Salisbury were, and of course South Down.

Aha! That would explain it! :)
I've got a C&G level 3 class (A level equivalent) and a beginners class at the moment. They're all addicted now!

Hi Daisychain...sorry for the delayed response...and you did see me on Wednesday.
This looks a great forum but I just have to get over my reluctance to ask waht may appear daft questions...
And I must find a more interesting name..

Don't worry about asking questions that seem daft - I've done it more than once now and everyone was great with the answers. My latest topic of interest is just trying to persuade myself to solder something - other than myself to anything that is :)

I agree, no question is a daft one!

Snowimp - soldering is fun! Just don't rush it and start with something small so that it doesn't seem so daunting.

I have a couple of small pieces of fine silver - the result of mucking up some metal clay items - so I was thinking of starting with them and see if I can solder them together - they have smooth edges that need a bit of work to make a joint, but not much. Oh and soldering jump rings for practice too.
