Hi all. As I'm home feeling poorly bad +o( I thought I'd post the pics of the two things I made at the weekend. I'm rediculously proud of the earrings- was wearing them even before I'd finished polishing them (I am now in love with micromesh, thanks George ;) )
My MIL loves the chain. I know what someone's getting for Christmas!
+/- feedback welcome- though remember...I've only just started playing with silver

Jayne the earings were easy! I just cut a bit of 3mm round wire and hit it! I was aiming to just flatten then end but I'm useless with a hammer and kept hitting the silver at an angle which left dents- which I decided I liked better than flat anyway.
Su' -when I feel better I really should be marking exercise books!
Work does get in the way of hobbies doesn't it!

Gemma the earrings are lovely!! I grinned when I saw the chain as that is what my students have been making in my jewellery class. A couple of them found it quite easy, but others were swearing as they dropped beads and jumprings all over the place LOL!

But on the upside... your earrings and chain are both really lovely.

Thanks again everyone- this forum is great for a pick-me-up :)

Heehee Nicci- that sounds familiar.
I didn't have much touble putting beads on the rings and closing them but I sent jumprings all over the place when I was cutting them. I'll be finding them for weeks I'm sure. I even think some ended up in my marking. I wonder if 9A5 will appreciate little silver rings in their homework :D

Anyone got any tips for not flirting them all over the room when you are slicing through your coils? Maybe I'm cutting wrong....

They both look fab :D Hope you feel better soon x
I use a ring clamp (999 AKX) to hold the coil when I'm making my jump rings - if you take it slowly they either hook through the saw blade or drop onto your lap - I use an old tea towel to catch them as I don't have one of those proper bench apron things!

When i do jump rings i either do them over my pan at the work bench or have a cloth on my lap to catch them. Hope you are feeling better[]

I wrap my coils in low tack masking tape when I am cutting them (I also cut from the inside of the tube having threaded the blade down the middle) - it holds the tube tightly together and all the rings stay in place until you decide to unwrap the little cocoon!!:D

Ooh thats a good idea Barbara!! I used to like the rings falling off and hanging off the saw blade - but they don't always stay there!

Hi Gemma

I love both pieces! I was going to ask how you got the texture of the ear-rings until I later read about your bash and wing it approach - think I'm going to have to try that one!

OOh I can't wait to get a hammer!

P.s Hope you feel better soon

How on earth you have the patience for such fiddly beading is beyond me - totally well done!
