I just started a new jewellery community website in association with one of my customers that some of you may find appealing. It's a jewellery making resource site and I would like to encourage everybody to join and take part and help it to grow.

If you are a dab hand at writing articles and would like to share your knowledge please feel free to contact me to submit them. The marketing potential will be very beneficial for yourselves and your own websites as with any site of this nature, be it forum or article sites.

I would also like to encourage the Cooksons internet marketing team to get involved as well if they feel that it would be beneficial for them.

I only started it over the weekend so please visit regularly to see it develop and if you have any questions or suggestions, don't hesitate to ask - I may not know the answer but I'll give it a go :)

Well - I must say it looks good to me....I would certainly use it as a reference site. I can't see me finding time to 'join' another community like this though but it would be good to be able to find articles submitted by other 'real' people! Can't wait for someone who has used Argentium and pmc together to come on and tell me what I have been doing wrong! This year...next year...sometime....:'(

Anyway - I've got you bookmarked...if nothing else for the silver prices so I know when to buy - buy - buy!:Y:#

What is the benefit of creating an account and loggin in - are there going to be some bits that are members only? ...or do you have other plans you haven't told us about yet?

There will be members only sections and I'm hoping to get a few suppliers to give discounts for their products to members of the community. There should be things I can add to it that I haven't even thought of yet so all suggestions thankfully received. :)

Just a very quick observation, I didn't look in enough detail to make constructive comments as I couldn't reply here at the time, but some of the news stories have dates of 1999 in the index, which I suspect is in error - from memory the stories themselves were correct. Might be an issue later if you're listing articles in chronological order.

I can't see that on my computer they all show 2009 - can you re-check for me please?

I did spot an error with the article author name not displaying properly so I've switched that off. I've also switched on a load of community features which could be embarrassing if you ask me a question about them because I probably won't know the answer yet :)

Just taken a peek - great idea, good looking, loads of potential :)
Just a thought, is it on facebook & twitt? I just ask because I've got the Online Jeweler linked up to my fb so that everytime they have a new story it just pops up on my news feed. Really handy ;)

yes it is - I've just set my Twitty details in 'My Applications' but I'm not sure how it updates yet - it might be automatic and I think for Facebook I need to enter an API key somewhere, I just need to find out where!

I signed up but was a bit miffed with registration, I am surprised it never asked for my length and girth.

I was expecting a forum or something Alan but there wasn't one.

You can always add a photo. :D

There seems to be a "discussion" area within the groups.

I was expecting a forum or something Alan but there wasn't one.

There is a forum module to activate but I've tried it before on another website and wasn't too impressed, it isn't as good as this forum software, 'vbulletin'.

Besides I have got a jewellery forum running already 'The Diamond Yacht Club Jewellery Forum' - but I've stopped taking registrations now. It was hard work trying to run just on my own and I wasn't getting any 'quality' members, just porn merchants, which spoilt it somewhat. I had moderators, but none of them joined in.

This one has a much better community feel to it with good moderators - I don't know how pheasible it would be to work with Cooksons and combine it with JewelleryExperts somehow.

^^^^^^^Open invitation there Alan.

I'm not convinced I can raise anybody's excitement level any more but I'm willing to step up to the mark and give it a go :Y:

I DONT HAVE SIX I HAVE EIGHT!!! so i dont understand

Neither do I - I just tried it in 8 and apart from a slight overlap on a few items it works ok. Anybody else got the same issue?

I've got 8. No problems apart from a bit of overlapping too.

'Ripley's Believe it or not', my forum is a quality site - try a search on google.co.uk for jewellery forum and you'll find it straight away - you just can't join though :)

Is it because I'm not a porn merchant with a diamond encrusted yacht?
