Mocha and I have organised a jewellery design competition in our area (in the North of Scotland) that has been going on in the last few weeks. Based on the Twilight movies/novels and to celebrate the 2nd movie to come out in November in the UK, its aim was to design a piece of "vampire" jewellery.

We had lots of entries from kids in the local high schools, and some of them were really inventive!
the winners have been chosen and the first prize is ...the actual design made by us! The winner is a 12 yr old girl and her design was called "Bleeding Rose".
So here it is, prize-giving is tomorrow so she hasn't even seen it yet!

and the piece that we made. We changed a few details (like number of ribbons to make it more practical, adding the stained glass effect to the background, and using swarovski crystals instead of the rubies that she had suggested!)

It's fine silver etched in nitric acid in preparation for champleve technique.

Here you go! We're still beginners, so we're quite pleased with the result, and hope that she'll be pleased too!

If you're interested, all the entries of the competition (and more details about the winners) are on our blog Nezumiz Diaries (http://nezumiz.over-blog.com/)
There'll also be bigger pics of the finished design on the blog from tomorrow, when the winner's actually seen her prize. Otherwise it would spoil her surprise, eheh!

What a lovely idea, especially one that involves children in jewellery and creativity :Y: Yes, I'd love to see a bigger pic, as its difficult to see all the detail in it, especially as you have described it so well....

Thank you! We're just about to post bigger pictures on our blog and website. Now that she's seen it it won't spoil her surprise! By the way, she did love it ^_^!

EmmaRose, our name "nezumiz" is the japanese for rat/mouse (nezumi) and a "z" at the end to make it a funny plural form and a new species of critters! Oh, and by the way, one of the "ladies" is a dude :)!!! (Mocha is my boyfriend!:X)

Thanks again everyone, and see you on the forum!
