Hi All

A while back I was asking advice on loose chain for necklaces etc and made a cock up and ordered the wrong size by accident which meant my necklaces would've been too heavy. So I chopped them in half and have been busy making a whole range of button charm bracelets...

See here for lots of pics (http://www.milomade.co.uk/blog/2009/10/new-milomade-button-charm-bracelets/).

What do you think?

thanks!

my fingers are a little sore from all that wire wrapping, but I'm getting used to it now as I've been making loads of earrings and neckalces too - still to photograph those and upload them.

No idea what to price these at yet.

you should see the elasticated button bracelets (http://www.milomade.co.uk/products_elasticatedbuttonbracelets.php) that I do - they're definitely like sweeties! I must photograph the omes I've just made - I managed to get my hans on about 2000 old shirt buttons, all the same size and they work really well. Will do some pics later.

Any suggestions for price? Materials I've used = 20cm Belcher 4 chains and 4cm of 0.8mm silver wire to wrap each button + a jump ring and bolt ring and lots of vintage/recycled buttons. I'm in a dilema as to how much to cost them at - is between £30/£40 too much do you think?

Hi, both sets of bracelets are absolutely fantastic. Seeing them for the first and as an amateur, I would think £25 to £30 is more realistic at the moment but depends on your market and where you sell.
They are lovely

I think £40 would be a little on the expensive side, somewhere between £25 and £35 i reckon.

don't sell yourself short though :) how long do they take you?

I think you need to stick to whatever formula you usually use Evie. I'm hesitant about putting my neck on the block over these - they are beautiful but the recycling market is not one I understand. My concern is that folk might expect to pay less for recycled items - no matter how attractive they are.

This is where the beauty of a formula comes in, isn't it. Whatever you do, don't charge less than any calculation you usually use. If you think you can get more go for it.

Totally unhelpful I suppose, just my honest thoughts.

I don't really have a formula as such in that I just calculate the cost of the materials and then triple it and see where that takes me, then I have a look around and see what other sellers are selling similar sized items for and adjust accordingly - They take about an hour to make. I was initially thinking £25 - but if I decide to sell these wholesale, that means I'm not getting much of a return there - so I hiked it up to £35 and was thinking £40 for the bracelets with the most buttons on them as some only have about 18 attached whereas others have about 30. MAybe i start them at £30 and work up according to the number of buttons.

I really ppreciate being able to think out loud about stuff like this on the forum as I'm just branching out into silver and November is going to be craft fair mad and I really appreciate people's honest opinions.

What do you think about the above pricing structure?

Sorry not to be any use on the pricing structure, I'd have no idea! But I must say, they really are lovely. It's a very original idea, and looks like you've done such a range that there'll be something for everyone. The purples my faves I think...

I'm trying to get every colour of the rainbow done as that'll be nice to display...I wonder which colour will be most popular and sell first or be in demand? I'm probably only going to make one of each but will take some photo's with me so people can see the whole range - I've just got a new colour printer and so can now print photo's - all very exciting!
