OMG, I know what you mean. Christmas is SO overrated and has become so commercialised that its become detatched from the real meaning of the event - not that I'm in any way religious! I seem to remember going Xmas shopping as a child in the week before Xmas and then putting up and decorating the tree on Xmas eve !

We have gone away for Xmas before with friends and everyone mucked in, which was nice, but its all such a load of hassle. This year, its Oxfam Unwrapped for the relatives and a few bits and pieces and not much else! oh and a log fire.....

bliss

Always on the lookout for that cracker on Christmas day. <3<3

Even my older sister who's just got divorced does better than me - something to do with raiki healing and being a medium I think - I should get off this forum more and out into the big wide world :)

Here's an encouraging sign - after virtually a whole month of lacklustre daily totals of website visitors to my sites, the last week has seen visitor traffic triple in numbers - which means, yes you guessed it! Christmas is on it's way!! Get half term out the way and into November and it will be hold on to your hats. :Y:

My OH hates Christmas, it's just an excuse for time off work, lots of booze and badly cooked food (cos he has a hangover, but insists on cooking). Somehow we've lost the magic, I have to fight just to get a small tree up ( please don't answer that comment Geti, I know the grammer is as bad as my spelling).

But I do love to watch the children's faces at work (they only time of the year I like them). My store is like one big Santa's Grotto and the kids are just full on. I don't even mind tidying up after them every five minutes, cos ther is so much laughter everywhere. :)

Midnight Mass anyone?

Our Christmases are very mixed although the youngest is now 17 and all the others have their own places (4 between us, my daughter is 18 and OH sons from first marriage are 24 & 26, daughter from his 2nd marriage is the 17 yr old and she came to live with us this year). No kids-in-law or grandchildren yet which is good as OH isn't ready for that yet...He's 14 yrs older than me but could be 14 years younger at heart and grandkids will devastate him becasue it means he will be 'that age' lol.

We've had the odd Christmas Day on our own in the past as all the kids were at their other parents', and we take Turkey Sandwiches, Mince pies and Champagne in a rucksack and go up high in the Brecon Beacons (amazing the amount of people who do the same - it's busier than most other times we go walking!!)

This year we are anticipating all of them visiting and my M-I-L will be staying with us (she is lovely and very entertaining :D). We play loads of board games and made up family games.

Here is something for those of you who like to keep 'up to date'
