These are the latest items I've finished. I made these pieces for myself (again) and wore them for a few days last week - boy they are heavier than I expected!

What do you think?

Nice - I love carnelian; it's one of my faves. Also red jasper, which seems to fill me with confidence ;)

Thanks guys - I'm also working on not using a single spot for illumination - it really shows up on the large bead in these photos. :(

Nope, not really - just found the beads ages ago and didn't know what to do with them until I discovered chain maille in May this year. I enjoyed wearing them to the course I was on last week - of course, it was a computing course so only blokes so no compliments, but never mind, you gals are making up for that.

Um, no website (yet) and not selling (yet)!

Both are sort of in the pipeline in that I'd like to have a website but haven't settled on a domain name yet, etc. I've been reading all the forum threads on sites etc for advice.

The selling - well I sold a piece to a friend a few weeks ago - the first piece so a bit nerve wracking but more is in the works right now - no doubt you'll all get to hear about it too. :~:

Lisa, I only found a chain maille book I could follow in May this year, but I think I finallly found something that works for me - before then I just played around with what felt like no direction. But you're right, I am REALLY pleased with this set.

And I still have some carnelian to play around with although they are all beads with white veins running through them - still playing with how to put them together, especially as some of them are larger than my usual rounds. Ah well, I'm sure I'll figure something out. :Y:

I love the necklace too. I have a couple of maille bracelets that I have made, but I tend to go for the lighter more open weaves and they are heavy enough so these must be heeeeavy!

I'm going to try some of the other weaves at some point. I guess I like the tighter version of the byzantine weave purely 'cos the book I learnt from used it - the author has now moved to a narrower guage wire and a larger inner dimension for his second book - guess he's decided they are too fiddly to work with.

But I like them, so guess I'll spend some more time fiddling and cussing #-o

I like Barrel weave and Helm chain. There are lots of tutorials on MAIL - Maille Artisans International League, check out their weave library on the website here (http://www.mailleartisans.org/weaves/). When you go into a category all the tutorials are listed at the bottom of the page, and often next to an image. (Sorry if you already knew about M.A.I.L.)

I did, but hadn't got any further than book marking their pages!! They've got so many tutorials that I got lost looking I must admit.

Thanks for the info tho, it's always helpful to know which people other forum members use for help. :)

love the carnelian. is that byzantine weave? I usually look at marilyn gardiners website, there's a few free instruction projects, and of course her kits. Found it relatively easy

I only ever browse through this one

Urban Maille ChainWorks (http://urbanmaille.com/)

Yes it's byzantine weave - which I love working with.

I've picked out a couple of other weaves to try whie I'm away on holiday from Monday - I'll practice with silver plated though - cheaper when I mess up.

And I do like the urban maille information I must admit.
