This opal is water clear in bright sunlight, apart from a shimmering ethereal almost holographic blue haze. Against a dark background, or when the light catches it just so, there is a peacock blue rolling flash of pure colour.

I love opals too. I never would have considered buying off ebay, however. Who was the retailer?
As far as I can remember it was a hobbyist/lapidiarist from Anglesey, but eBay now only keeps a couple of months history so it has vanished!
Look under loose gemstones for opal, but beware doublets, triplets and 'lab created' stones, there's a lot of rubbish about.
Caveat Emptor - as the Romans used to say . .
