Hey
Just letting you all know a bit about me, my name is Mark, I've been in the trade for 23 years now, I started as an apprentice with very intensive one-on-one training and very much based around a busy workshop environment, which is an excellent way of learning which designs work and which don't.
I'm experienced in all soldering techniques, finishing styles and stone setting to cover the basics of what I do.
After many years of running a workshop, fixing for many retail outlets, I decided to open my own premises 9 years ago in my home town which has allowed me to pursue design work by specialising in making what my customers want.
Joined this forum to see what it's all about and to enjoy talking to people from all over the jewellery trade, from beginner students to other shop owners.
Take a look at my YouTube site, any feedback on the videos would be greatly appreciated just leave me a comment on the videos or my YouTube page, also let me know if there's anything you might like to see a video of, and I'll keep it in mind if I get a job like that in,
Thanks.

Thankyou, that project was our first venture into using a machine to help! we wouldn't have been able to create that crest to such a perfect spec without it, the customers were extremely pleased with the rings as were we :)

Hi Mobeus,

welcome to the forum.

I see that you are in the BJA and we had a thread recently started about whether it was worthwhile or not, so it would be interesting to know how you feel about membership and the benefits that it has brought to you.

I joined the BJA purely for the logo as far as I can tell there is not much other benefits that help me in any way, they provide lots of info which if I had time to wade through might yield some interest, but nothing that I don't get from the retail jeweller or jewellery focus magazines..

Hi all, the lily project was immense it took over 4 months to perfect it and working with school kids and teachers who provided drawings and also the motor that powers it just added to the creative soup... I am proud to have something on display in such a prominent museum but in some ways I miss it and might have to make another one for my shop it was such a conversation piece whilst it was there..
