Goldsmiths fair at Goldsmiths hall in Londinium. I went today, it was so amazing and getting to talk to all the jewellers was a joy, but I think it's only running a few more days so if you can get there, you should! :Y:

What do you guys like about his work? Not that you shouldn't or anything, it's great but he gets sooooooooo much praise and there's so many other brilliant jewellers out there. Obviously I'm missing something

No, Coco, I don't think you are. I think Leane's work is at the extreme end of the scale in terms of delicacy and stuff. I'm afraid it does absolutely nothing for me - leaves me completely cold.

Not sure if I'm qualified to give an opinion as the skill level is way beyond me but I find his designs quite uninspiring.

I totally appreciate the skill and workmanship, but it's not a style I warm to at all. I think it might be just because I would look so silly in anything that fiddly!

PMSL - you and me both George. Think hippo in tutu and you get the effect ;)

Hi Coco
I went to Goldsmiths 2009 last week and yes, it is fantastic. Another place to go which I thought was even better is ORIGIN 2009 at Somerset House that is really inspirational! and well worth the trip. I went this week and I am definitely going again next week. They are all so talented. It is a must.
Everyone should go if they can and it carries on over this weekend and next week.:dancing:

I'm relieved to hear that I'm not alone in not liking his work. I don't think I could post here what I really thought of it.

I know what you mean. Much of it is too fashionista or too bling
but I do like these.

Love the flowers too, It might work for me if it was done as a hair slide or simple tiara comb for a wedding. That said I can see why he's the darling of the 'fashion world'. The skill is something to aspire to and probably makes a lot of money.

Christine, I wanted to go to Origin but those two weeks I just had so much on already I couldn't fit it in. I have promised myself next year though.

Are Origin and the Goldsmiths fair only held once a year?

I can't say I get excited about his work either - it's a totally different market to the one I'm in. He does know how to work an audience though.

He does? really? I found him quite standoffish. He can clearly smell the difference between those with money and lowly students [-o<

And he's looking for an intern apparently, in the office not the workshop but who knows where it may lead...

Emma, JJ...up for giving it a go? :Y:

I love his work. Good job we all like such different things or life would be really boring.
