I know some of you are looking into metal clay techniques and I know Nic has supplied lots of useful information. I did come across this web site that provides a lot of information which you may find useful.

Metal Clay Academy - Tutorial Section (http://www.metalclayacademy.com/resources/downloads/downloads-home.html)

Can I rather arrogantly suggest some of my own tutorials.

Taking photographs of hand made products to sell on-line (http://www.boo.myzen.co.uk/artisan.html)

A free table top photographic studio lighting set up (http://www.boo.myzen.co.uk/lighting.html)

I have a number of tutorial articles on my blog, from buying a camera, to photographing on dark backrounds, problems with reflections, jewellery display bust templates, what to take to craft fairs etc. etc. Boo's Jewellery (http://boojewels.blogspot.com/)

These aren't exactly tutorials unless you want to learn how not to catch sausages, also a ring being machined.

Demonstrating using a mouth blow torch for soldering. How to control the temperature, and showing how much control this type of torch gives. It is an adaptagas butane mouth blown torch. In this case, its a hollow link bracelet, where temperature control is important, to arrest the solder from melting completely (else it would be sucked into the hollow link and the join fail). This is 9ct but the technique is applicable to silver.
The flame looks big, but is a very 'soft' flame, and far safer on stones than a microweld.

I recomend looking at two sites showing the same persons work. He shows his work under two different names.

1.Das Schmuckportal - Schmuck u. Goldschmiede Videos (http://media.goettgen.de/videos) Giacomo
2.http://www.ganoksin.com/benchtube/videos skillman

He breaks down what he's making in to short clips with lots of detail, with lots of good close ups

For everyone who is having trouble with soldering.

Take a look at a series on You Tube Jewellery Techniques Explained (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J95soMXxhNc)

One of the best I've ever found on youtube.

Special thanks to Andrew Berry- I learned soldering with your tutorials.

My favourite youtube videos are from a channel called Scaffoal.
He doesn't speak, but does show you closeups of everything he is doing to terrible music...

In this video, he hand makes a solitaire.

Thanks for posting the link.
Your fabrication shows real dedication.
Probably the only thing I'd have done differently is make the metal holding the stone in slightly thicker.
You'd benefit greatly from having a hammer handpiece, or its poor but competent cousin - a Dremel engraver.

Sad broken thread with just a few working links. Those were the days when when we had three or four posts a day.
I wonder where Murano Silver is now. She was our silver clay expert, and was building a large Egyptian god Anubis, when she suddenly left.

Nic had personal issues that caused her some upheaval, but she's safe & happy in Cornwall these days. I keep trying to tempt her back to silver, but to no avail.

Those were the days Dennis. I loved them and would spend ages and ages reading threads, learning, posting and generally enjoying myself. However, nowadays time is tight, with so much to do and so little time!
I still look in here every day and there's always a new tip that you lovely people pass onto those who need it.
Many thanks to you and the other regulars who still help when you can. :ta::ta:
