Hi someone asked me to make rings out of silver teaspoons. They are small coffee spoons with a rose detail at the top, and she said they were German. They do have a hallmark but when I heated one very gently and tried to bend it it cracked and broke in 2 places. It seems the silver is brittle so I don't think they are suitable for rings. I feel bad and wish I had refused but have made a lot of teaspoon rings before without this happening.,. Any advice welcome. Thanku

Do you have a picture of the hallmark?
Might be completely unrelated, but German silver is a name given to nickel silver...

They are probably made of a base metal alloy called German silver, containing zinc nickel and copper. Here is more about it:

We inherited my German mother in laws silver spoons.Although they didn’t say German silver they were definitely just plated .
It made me check the 2 serving spoons we use daily but they are marked 800 with a makers mark

Yes , I got caught out early on in my “journey” in jewellery as one or two of you may remember with …I think it was Tibetan silver.

I'm pretty sure that's not a hallmark per se (not a UK one anyway).
Have a look here - https://www.silvercollection.it/hallmarks.html
I haven't yet found the marks there, but I strongly suspect a bit of digging will locate them.
I can't make out what's in the trefoil in the middle beyond a W at the bottom - any chance you could do a close up on the marks?
