I have posted this info before, but recently I reposted about the clamps on Facebook and got a lot of interest. So I thought I would repost one of my photo sheets that shows my methods of shaping soldering clamps from these strips, sold by Cookson; https://www.cooksongold.com/Jewellery-Tools/Knew-Concepts-Titanium-Soldering---Clamp-Set-prcode-997-3318

hi James,
thanks for sharing your clamps, they look great just what’s needed on those tricky jobs that you can’t do much else with.
i’ve never worked with titanium before it must have some odd properties.
another one for the next, ever expanding shopping basket.

They're great Nick. What you get is a pack of rectangular wire blanks, so be sure to copy James' picture before it disappears.
They are easy enough to work, can be rolled thinner if required, and bent to angles without scoring.
Advantage of titanium is that it does not stick to solder, and retains its tension when the clamps are used.
It's good bye to the dreaded binding wire. Dennis.

thanks Dennis,
I love discovering new materials to play with, especially when they can be turned into tooling.
with no experience of titanium it sounds strong and hard and not easily rolled thiner.
always something new to learn with silversmithing.

No, not that hard, and easily rolled down.

Do you just use a standard saw blade to cut them to shape?

Yes Sheen, I just use a standard saw blade size 0, to cut the shapes required on the strips before bending.

I can totally endorse all that has been said about these titanium “clips”. They are magic.
