first you have to find your fat balls.

And, no, JO it is not wrong to wolf whistle your own jewellery - any more than it is not wrong to look at your self in the mirror and think cor, you ain't half bad.

I haven't experienced either for some time :(

I always assumed fat balls were something you feed to wild birds? We used to sell them in the pet store.

If you're the first the wolf whistle your own work - others will follow I'm sure.

No doubt when we all get to see the photos you'll get a whole chorus of whistles.

Lovely beads from Sabine I'm guessing?

Emerald
29-09-2009, 01:03 PM
mmm you guessed correct George lol, forgot to mention that.

I like the contrast of the silver and Grey but i have another set which i am going to oxidise just waiting for metal.

In that case one of the shiny lentils for this one - probably the first one, and keep the swirl for the oxidised chain :)

Whit Whoo, Whit Whoo. :-" Very nice indeed, I love all the beads but for me I think the original swirl (no 2) is the best, but only by a very fine whisker.

Ominicci
30-09-2009, 10:46 PM
Either swirly bead for me. I mean in my opinion, not 'for me', but then again perhaps that is what I mean ... ;)

What are the steps you go through to embellish your beads - do you do the embellishment after you've made the beads and if, so do you use a medium/easy solder and how do you get all the bits to stay on as you solder them and not come off as you solder the next bit on???

Emerald
01-10-2009, 08:18 AM
Hi Nicci, i decorate first then put the bead together i try doing all of it at the same time with medium i melt solder on before i put the pieces in place and as i go i sort of glue them with borax and heat and once they are all in place i blast them, the swirls are fused so get the base hot and then place the swirl on top being very careful not to melt your wire. x

thanks for all the comments will crack on and finish it today and the other one x

Everyone should always congratulate themselves for good work. Because in life, not many other people will congratulate you.

I played tennis this morning, and I was playing really badly. But I did one brilliant shot, and whooped and leapt in the air to congratulate myself. Made everyone laugh! :Y:

Flippin' eck they are gorgeous, I like final one best, but am totally in awe of your technical ability, I truly wouldn't know where to start such an intricate piece.

Should you feel chuffed with yourself? Absolutely !

I've got a bit obsessed with it because there are so many variations. I've made a few silver bracelets but I'm reduced to copper now. Mind you, they're pretty good to look at too. I've found that oxidising the silver makes it look really quite heavy and 'serious.'

Emerald
07-10-2009, 09:29 PM
Well these are quite heavy as they are in 1.2 wire but i like my chains chunky and the first one is oxidized which i agree gives it another dimension, i have loads of copper wire so maybe i could play.

Di Sandland
07-10-2009, 09:31 PM
Give it a go - mine are 1mm x 3.5mm. I oxidised those as well because although I love the look of new copper, I thought it looked better toned down a bit.

I used the same gauge for the silver and even the OH has acknowledge them with far more than his usual grunt.

And you and I have exactly the same taste!
