Hi All

I'm looking to upgrade my barrelling machine. It's one of the plastic drum ones, with red rubber rails and has forward / reverse tumbling action achieved through 2 dials on front. It's mega noisy and although it does a decent job, it sometimes decides not to rotate when it changes direction, meaning I need to tap it, meaning I need to be there, which is a colossal waste of time. And my hearing is going. Pardon?

So I'm looking at these Cookson pro and gold models, and reading about vaseline seals etc. It's nearly 2020- surely there's a good machine out there which doesn't need pimped? What are my options?

There is only one barrelling machine for domestic use that I can wholeheartedly recommend, and that is the Lortone available from Creative Glass:

It is brilliant in all respects: relatively quiet, double lidded to be leak proof and runs slightly upended, to avoid the likelihood of slipping when wet.

The shot sold by them is the finest, to minimise the pitting due to the needles, which is a problem with barrelling.
