Hi,

I tried to follow one of the projects ( the Russian ring necklace)
I decided to make the rings so I worked out how much i would need but went wrong somewhere and was only able to make one!

Does the gauge of the ring change the amount you need?

I tried to make another ring according to a plastic ring sizer and again my measurements were wrong...
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

James

The thicker the metal the more you need to use to account for the thickness.
What formula are you using?

12198

Peter has given you the formula, but as he says, wider rings feel increasingly tighter, so Its best to use the centre line of your ring when comparing with the sizer.

Silver is not that expensive, so it is much easier to start with a longer piece of wire when bending. I would recommend Andrew Berry for sensible advice on this subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaU5acww9gc But skip the ad. Dennis.

Ah,

That's probably where I was going wrong...
I brought a beginners books that has a conversation chart and I just followed that instead of a formula!

I'm a big fan of this calculator when making rings http://mordent.com/old/ringsize.html
