Hi There,

I have never been able to find the formula / rules for what size diamonds can be flush set into what thickness of metal and hope someone here might be able to help :)

For example:
If I have 1.5 mm thick sheet, what would be the max diameter of diamond that could be flush set comfortably without poking out the other side? is there a formula or general rule that I can use to work it out that can be applied to all sizes and thicknesses?

Thanks for any guidance!
Best
Lin

Get some callipers (4", 100mmdigital are the most convenient). Buy the stones first and measure the height from table to culet. The thickness of metal should exceed that, or you can add a small disk or patch to the back to give you the thickness.

If stones poke through onto skin, they will become loosened and fall out, but with a hollow piece you can take some liberties to reduce weight. Dennis.
