Hit the top of the centre punch with a hammer to make a dot. You can use wire cutters to do this or use a piercing saw to cut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you use wire cutters you may need to file the cut edge if it squishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you use a saw, support the jump ring on a bench peg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use flat or parallel nose pliers to hold the jump ring whilst cutting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"2048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_7385.jpeg\" alt=\"Cutting a jump ring in half\" class=\"wp-image-24241\" style=\"object-fit:cover;width:384px;height:512px\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step Six<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Place the moon shape on a heatproof block, pattern side up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Add a small amount of medium solder paste to each end of both pieces of the jump ring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Place the one half of the jump ring in the middle at the top of the moon shape. To create a loop at the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Place the other half of the jump ring in the middle at the bottom of the moon shape. Using a blow torch, heat the jump ring until the solder melts and flows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quench the moon shape in water using tweezers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Place the moon back onto the heatproof block and add a little solder paste to the join of the second jump ring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using a blow torch heat the jump ring until the solder melts and flows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"2048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_7418.jpeg\" alt=\"Solder jump ring\" class=\"wp-image-24268\" style=\"object-fit:cover;width:384px;height:512px\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step Fourteen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leave the pendant to cool a little before quenching (cooling) in water using tweezers and adding to a warm pickle solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leave the moon in the solution for 5 minutes or until clean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remove from the pickle solution using plastic or brass tweezers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When clean and dry use an emery stick or paper to remove any excess solder if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Work from 240 coarse emery board grit to 1200 fine emery board grit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"2048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_7423.jpeg\" alt=\"Add silver pendant to pickle solution\" class=\"wp-image-24269\" style=\"object-fit:cover;width:384px;height:512px\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step Fifteen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Polish the moon pendant using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/Jewellery-Tools\/Connoisseurs-Silver-Polish-Cloth--2ply-279mm-X-355mm-prcode-998-CN10\">silver polishing cloth<\/a> or in a barrel tumbling machine with shot, barrelbrite and water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You could also use a pendant motor with mops and rouge as well as silicone polishing wheels to add shine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"2048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_7431.jpeg\" alt=\"Polish silver pendant using a polishing cloth\" class=\"wp-image-24270\" style=\"object-fit:cover;width:384px;height:512px\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step Sixteen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Set the stone in your pendant by placing the stone in the bezel cup.
