curve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Be careful not to grip the wire with pliers too tightly as this will mark the metal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You could use nylon and cut it in half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You could cut it using your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/Jewellery-Tools\/Jewellery-DIY-Starter-Set,-Bench---Peg,-Saw-Frame-And-12-Super-Pike---20-Blades-prcode-1VP-004\">piercing saw<\/a>. Use pliers to grip the jump ring, and rest the pliers against your bench peg. Use your saw to cut through the jump ring.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"2048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_6678.jpeg\" alt=\"Cut jump ring using piercing saw frame\" class=\"wp-image-24220\" style=\"width:371px;height:495px\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 12<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or, you can cut your jump ring in half using wire\/side cutters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may need to file the ends of the wire if you choose to cut your jump ring as the pliers will more than likely \u2018squish\u2019 the ends.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"2048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_6671.jpeg\" alt=\"Cut jump ring with cutters\" class=\"wp-image-24221\" style=\"width:358px;height:477px\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 13<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Place the silver spiral on a heatproof block and place the bezel cup so it is touching the curve of the spiral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Place the \u00bd jump ring at the top of the spiral so both ends of the jump ring are touching the spiral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s important that the sides of the bezel cup are raised over the spiral so they can be pushed over the stone when it comes to setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You could raise the bezel cup if needed by placing a jump ring or binding wire underneath the cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ensure it does not come into contact with any solder however as you do not want to end up soldering it to your pendant.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"2048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_6683.jpeg\" alt=\"Place the silver pendant on a heatproof block\" class=\"wp-image-24222\" style=\"width:327px;height:436px\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 14<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Add a little <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/Solders\/Cooksongold-Silver-Solder-Paste-5g-Easy-Syringe-prcode-PAT-001\">solder paste<\/a> to both ends of the jump ring and ensure they are touching the spiral. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also add solder paste to where the bezel cup touches the spiral.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"2048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/IMG_6686.jpeg\" alt=\"Adding solder paste to both ends of the jump ring\" class=\"wp-image-24224\" style=\"width:318px;height:424px\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 15<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heat the silver spiral with a blow torch until the solder melts and flows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leave the pendant to cool a little before quenching (cooling) in water using tweezers, then adding to a warm pickle solution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leave the spiral in the pickle solution for 5 minutes or until clean. Using a blow torch heat the jump ring until the solder melts and flows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leave the pendant to cool a little before quenching (cooling) in water using tweezers and adding to a warm pickle solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leave the spiral in the solution for 5 minutes or until clean.
