Step 1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Draw out your spiral rose shape on a piece of paper or use copper wire to practice your shape ideas and technique.<\/p>\n\n\n

Step 2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Using flat nose pliers and half round pliers, gently grip the round wire and make bends. Turning the wire after each bend, a \u2018rose\u2019 shape should start to evolve.<\/p>\n\n\n

Step 3<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ensure that some of the wire touches at a few points by gently manipulating it. Bend the end piece of wire around to create a loop. Also ensure each end of the wire meets flush to the side of the wire. If needed, use emery sticks to sand the ends flat and create a flush join.<\/p>\n\n\n

Step 4<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Place the wire on a soldering brick\/block and add flux and a small amount of solder to the touching point. Ensure your loop end is soldered too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can use hard, medium or easy solder. It would be best practice to use hard solder. However, easy solder will melt and flow the quickest. You can also use solder paste, in which case you don\u2019t need to use flux.<\/p>\n\n\n

Step 5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Using a blowtorch, heat the wire evenly until the solder melts and flows.<\/p>\n\n\n

Step 6<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Quench the Silver wire in water or leave to cool. Add the Silver wire to a warm pickle.<\/p>\n\n\n

Step 7<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When clean and dry, use a metal hammer to add marks and texture. Place the Silver wire on a steel block or hard stable surface. Use the edges of the face of the hammer to add dents and marks, and the full face of the hammer to flatten parts of the wire. Use emery sticks to gently sand any sharp areas or excess solder.<\/p>\n\n\n

Step 8<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Add a Silver jump ring by gripping one side of the jump ring with chain nose pliers and the other with snipe nose pliers, and gently twisting the pliers in opposite directions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hook the jump ring through the Silver loop and close it by gripping one side of the jump ring with chain nose pliers and the other with snipe nose pliers, and gently twisting the pliers in opposite directions into the centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To solder the jump ring, add a small amount of solder paste to where the jump rings join and heat gently with a hand blow torch until the solder melts and flows. Quench the Silver wire in water or leave to cool, then add it to a warm pickle.<\/p>\n\n\n

Step 9<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Polish the Silver flower using a polishing cloth and a burnisher or a barrel polisher.<\/p>\n\n\n
