For this project I\u2019ve used 7\u201d length to make a 60mm diameter bangle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Prepare the wire<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">File the ends of the wire flat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Gently heat<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anneal the wire ready for forming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Step-3-3.jpg\" alt=\"Make this torque knot bangle - Step 3\" class=\"wp-image-17367\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Step-3-3.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Step-3-3-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Step-3-3-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Quench &amp; pickle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After annealing, quench the wire in water, then put it into the safety pickle until clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 5: Shape the wire<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using the bangle mandrel, raw hide mallet and nylon mallet, loosely shape the wire to your desired shape making sure there is a big enough gap at the top to add the beads (approximately 30mm). Use your bent reverse action tweezers to clamp the bangle upright with the straight reverse action tweezers holding the bead. This can be fiddly so patience is required! Flux the seat and join, then add your solder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Step-7.jpg\" alt=\"Make this torque knot bangle - Step 7\" class=\"wp-image-17372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Step-7.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Step-7-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Step-7-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 8: Check your work<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you\u2019re happy with the join, quench and pickle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 9: Add the bead<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Slide on the decorative bead and prepare for soldering the second 6mm solid bead. Because the decorative bead has been oxidised, it is essential not to get this hot. This can be covered with heat protection paste (999 AAH) or a damp piece of tissue tightly wrapped around the bead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 10: Bring the heat<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Solder as in step 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 11: Pickle the joint<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you\u2019re happy with the join, quench and pickle but you must not pickle the decorative bead as this will remove the oxidisation. You can do this by creating your own jig or harness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Step-11.jpg\" alt=\"Make this torque knot bangle - Step 11\" class=\"wp-image-17373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Step-11.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Step-11-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cooksongold.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Step-11-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 12: Clean &amp; tidy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re happy with the solder join, clean up any excess solder using the 3 square needle file around the join. Make sure you follow the shape of the bead and wire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 13: Check for nicks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check over the wire and beads. There shouldn\u2019t be any heavy nicks. However, if there are, these will need to be removed before polishing. This can be done with emery paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 14: Polish<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using your hard mop and tripoli, polish the bangle. Try to avoid polishing the decorative bead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 15: Final polish<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you\u2019re happy with the initial polish, start your final polish using your soft mop and rouge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 16: Finish<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When polishing is complete, clean off the excess polishing compound with washing up liquid and a soft cloth, then dry and you\u2019re finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We want to see what you have been making!
