Barrel Polishing Compound
Barrel polishing compounds and shots are designed for use with a barreling machine to polish your jewellery. Once placed in the machine, the barrel is then rotated on the motorised unit to gently polish items for a shiny finish. There are a range of barreling compounds and shots that are suitable for different stages of the polishing process.
Compound powders are ideal to deburr and pre polish precious metals and base metals. Mixed steel shots are used in a barreling machine to polish and burnish pieces and pyramid chips are used to create a matt finish while cutting cones are often favoured for general polishing. Before using any shots or compounds, it is generally advised that jewellery is first cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner in order to ensure that no excess dirt contaminates the shot or compound you are using.
