Perfect for rings.

In the UK any silver item over 7.78g must be hallmarked. That means sending it to an assay office. For silver items under this weight, you do not legally need to hallmark it. However, its always good to indicate what the item is. Hence this 925 stamp for sterling silver gives you a quick and easy way to mark sterling silver items. Even though its not a guarantee applied by an assay office, I feel it still helps to reassure the customer. In turn this adds value to small items, such as earrings and pendants. This swan neck version allows you to stamp the inside of rings. It also helps with stamping awkward items, where a straight punch and hammer are difficult. Obviously it is equally good for stamping straight flat items too. So given the choice, this is really the only punch you need for sterling silver.Note there are two types of lettering. One just stamps the numbers, cut into the metal, as if youd engraved them. Only the letters themselves are sunk into the silver cut in. The other type this one, Has a box around it. In this case the box around the numbers is pushed into the metal. This leaves a square indentation with the 925 raised in the middle. This, in my opinion, is much nicer and more like an assay office hallmark. Its also easier to see. sunk punch. Practice first though, it takes time to get used to the correct force needed more than you might think.
