I bought a bottle of this when I was working on fine gold bracelet, several years ago. I have continued to use it on a variety of some projects and I have now just run out. So I now ask myself, do I want to buy another bottle I am going to say no. Heres why...Yes its great having the convenience of a ready-made flux, but is it really that much of a time saving I can mix up my borax just as quickly as I can unscrew a bottle. Many people complain that with borax the pallion can fly off when it boils. True, but you also get the same problem with this liquid flux too. Whilst it doesnt quite "blossom" like borax does, it still has to boil throwing off the pallion as it does so so again no real advantage there either.For a beginner, this pre made flux may seem like an easy solution, but you are missing on a whole set of essential skills. Use a bottle for convenience by all means, but still keep the borax and learn it well.Once you get used to borax, it tells you when you are up to temperature, you can see the brown, glassy shine. I find that with the Auflux, you dont get this information or feedback from it.Lastly, as any jeweller will tell you, borax gives you the ability to make your flux at the exact consistency you require. Thin to cover large areas or run into components, or thicker to hold the pallion in place when propping up a piece. Auflux is like water in its thin liquid consistency.So for me, the pre made liquid made flux, does not have any real advantages over borax. Quite the contrary, it lacks many of these basic features that borax has.I've tried it and I've used it, for several years. and in conclusion....I've just bought more borax.
