Default whats the difference between a graver and grain tools?

    hello all!

I have been making jewellery as a hoby for a couple of years now, but am still definately a novice!

Could someone help explain the difference between a graver and grain tool please?

I would like to buy tools for bezel setting and also engraving designs on silver to be covered with enamel, and want to go for the best tool for both jobs!

    Thanks!

A graver is a single-point cutting tool for removing metal (or raising burrs for the next process described).

A grain tool (or beading tool) is a burnishing tool for forming the burrs raised into neat round beads.

...but was it actually useful to you?

I can go on a lot more about the tools if needed.
