Default Elastic stretching on beaded bracelets problem

    Hi,

I have made some beaded bracelets using Beadalon Elasticity stretch cord (0.5mm).

Some of the bracelets have small beads (i.e 4mm and other 8mm).

I have been wearing the bracelets myself to see how well they wear, and over a period of time, the elastic seems to be stretching leaving gaps in between the beads.

Does anyone know why this is? Do I need to look at using a thicker cord (1mm is the heaviest on Cooksongold website), or could it be something else I am doing wrong?

I have been told Beadalon is the best quality, so not sure why this is happening.

I am completely new to jewellery making so would be grateful for any advice!

    Thanks

Hi Rachel, You probably aren't doing anything wrong. I think it is just the nature of elastic. The advantage of stretch is balanced by limited shelf life. I have heard some use a double thread - not sure that would help. I use the Beadalon 49 steel thread with crimps. These are harder to get on but don't stretch. I would still expect to have to re string them eventually though.
