Silver ring + holder
Made two items today, both for different customers.
The ring is made from chunky sterling silver and I decorated it with a punch to create the simple ring and dot design.
The ring holder is made from solid wood, with a heavy weighted base and decorated with simple copper inlay to jazz it up a touch.
I seem to be combining woodworking with jewellery more and more nowadays and I'm loving it.
Thanks,
Nick.

The finish on the wood looks top great idea aswell

Thanks Josef. The wood was polished similar to how we'd finish jewellery.
The concept of the ring holder isn't unique but I wanted to improve on others so I tapped a 12mm diameter thread 25mm deep into the centre. Then I cut down a large bolt, filed a slot on the end then used a screwdriver to insert it as the steel weight.
I then made a small tight fitting plug and sealed the hole before finally polishing it all.

Great to see all that woodwork. A tutor once said to our class: You can work in metal, but you must work with wood.
Does that strike chord? Dennis.

Very much so although I didn't realise it at first

Every time I see wood work like this I wish I could do it, it looks like it feels amazing. Great idea to make pieces that work together too.

Believe it or not Lydia, the skill set for jewellery making and woodworking is very similar in lots of ways.
There's clearly a separate learning curve, but the biggest hurdle is the investment in wood specific tools like lathes, routers, clamps, chisels and so on.
