Hi,I`m pattern and mould maker for a company in Cornwall that produces cast pewter celtic items.Pewter melting for casting 280-300C.It is 95% tin,4.5% copper and 0.5%antimony and bismuth [some alloys contain 2% silver/3%copper].As mentioned above, the cross contamination is to be avoided as ANY pewter[or tin or lead] filings/dust will etch into silver and gold when they are heated and will render them unusable.
There is a pewter guild; The Worshipful Co of Pewterers >http://www.pewterers.org.uk< and they have info re stamps.
If you need help or advice about moulding and casting give me a shout as I`ve been doing this for over 20yrs and know a wee bit!

I work with pewter a bit, mostly in sheet form but I find it a beautiful metal to work with. It takes texturing with a rolling mill really well and has a really nice feel to it too, but the peskiness of soldering is admittedly a downside
