Repair on 18ct white ring with Rhodium plating?

A friend has asked me to replace the stone in her engagement ring, Ive checked the setting under the microscope and it looks like it will be ok but the ring still has the Rhodium coating on albeit very scratched and I was wondering what to do about polishing it?
Presumably the coating will come off if I try and polish the scratches out?

Ive just spoken to the customer and she is happy to get it replated herself afterwards so it turns out that I don't have to worry about that
