    The other method for the 'belt setting' on the cabochons of course, is to make a very snug fitting and to use something like a laser welder / PUK to weld the seam shut. The heat generated is so minimal and localised that it wont wreck the stone.

    However I think its a daft setting because the stones covered and its not that pleasing to the eye!

    I don't know about the UK but here in Australia crystal points as shown are simply fixed with epoxy
