Feeling a bit miserable today, my Labrador has gone in for an operation on his elbow, he has chipped a bone, dont know how but the vet said its better out than in, so the house seems very empty even though hubby and the border terrier are here. I suppose he is so big, that it just leaves an empty space. He is a big strong, young dog, so I know he will be ok, but you cant help worrying especially as he has to be knocked out for it. He will be back tonight all being well, got to pick him up at 6pm. Just feeling sorry for him, and I miss him.

I wish him well Pat, waiting for your dog at the vets is one of life's pains.

They're always a worry, whether it's dogs, cats, horses...

Yes been involved with all of them. My daughters horse is going to Bicton College on a full loan for the next year, he is a big boy 16.2hh and thoroughbred. My daughter bought him as a yearling, and broke him to saddle herself nine years ago. Hope the students will appreciate a good horse when they see one. His full sister was an international dressage horse, dont know her name though, but can find out if anyone is interested.
Just heard from the vet, Bertie the lab is ok, just groggy from the anaesthetic, can be picked up at 5pm. Apparently there is a small part of the joint that grows and can cause problems, he has split that bit of bone off.

hope he makes a quick recovery! We foster dogs for a local animal charity and often have invalids to look after!

Aww poor mite, hope he's on the mend soon. I absolutely love dogs but am usually out at work all day so can't have one - it doesn't stop me getting extremely broody about other people's though! (anyone here with a Briard?!)

    You're quite right Peter.

Glad to hear that Bertie is okay post-op, I hope he has a speedy recovery Pat.

Sadly we lost our little boy tabby cat, Esox, today, it was time after a slow decline over the past 2 years. A very sad day for us
