Thread: white and yellow gold

    Default white and yellow gold

I'm going to be soldering yellow gold beads onto white gold wire soon (possibly, the design might evolve), which solder to use. white gold or yellow gold? (or go for the fully colour palette and use rose gold solder?)

    Hi our pearl expert,

You did not say what carat and that is what determines the melting point of the gold. By browsing the Cook Book you can check out the melting ranges of the various solders, but I suspect medium will be OK in any colour that takes your fancy. Sorry if you know this already, but Auflux/Auroflux and a charcoal block are preferable.

I'll vote for white solder, easier to hide
