Default Swarovski Hotfix crystals....sticking onto sterling silver?

I've just received some new bits and bobs from the States for my Silver Treasures collection (hand stamped keepsake jewellery) and amongst all of my goodies is a power punch and some crystal rivets. So I've just had a play around with it and added a crystal rivet to a sterling silver disc I'd stamped with the names of my 2 boys. Have to say I'm not overly impressed and the crystal seems very dull (not sure if it's been damaged with whacking it to get it attached to the disc).

I've got lots of requests to attach crystals so I wondered if anyone knew whether or not Swarovski Hotfix crystals would stick, and stay firmly stuck, to the silver discs? Maybe someone knows another method I could use? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly received. Thanks.

could you solder something like this on...

you'd have to cut the post off first, unless they do plain claw settings

ETA, found this but it might be a bit too sticky up!

I did not know what "hotfix" was so had a quick look and it seemed it was/they are, really for fabric, so I would think they probably would not stick to metal. I would be inclined to just bezel set them either in preformed cups if the size of crystal you have is appropriate for the size of cups available, or indeed the best option if it is within your scope would be to make your own bezels. If that is not an option then two part epoxy glue might be the way.

Thanks for your replies. I want the crystals to be quite small, no more than 6mm really, and I've just found some on the PMC Shop website. I'm thinking soldering is the way forward. However, soldering is not something I've dared to venture into yet, although it is something I'd love to have a go at.....best go do some research! If anyone has any tips etc about soldering, they'd also be gratefully received!

Daisy keep an eye on this thread as Peter is going to try and find a tutorial Dennis did on soldering http://www.cooksongold.com/forum/sho...7744#post47744 unless of course somebody comes up with the link quicker :0)

Hotfix crystals rely on the glue melting into the fabric to secure them, they won't stay stuck to a non porus surface for very long at all. Tried blinging my phone very unsuccessfully!
