This is my first ring - the theme competition is entirely to blame for the inspiration. It also turned into a bit of a scrap-heap challenge, although slightly less so than I thought it would be (see my adventures in removing plating...). The bird was made from the scraps left over from cutting out discs for a bracelet, the shank and nest were from leftovers from some previous dabbling in wire work, and the freshwater pearls were spares from my wedding dress.

It's a bit dainty and twee(t?) for me to wear, so it will go to my mother - rather fitting as she made said wedding dress, including the hand embroidery and hundreds of pearls. She'd better love it as soldering those pieces together has taken years off my life!

On the other hand, it looks rather well with the painting on my mantle.
