Default What Do You Make Of This?

I have just returned from mount Etna and am still feeling a bit strange from the unsociable flying time.

The owner was a bit miffed that all I could find to buy in the souvenir shop were these scraps of iron rose hematite for € 2.50. I don’t even know whether they were found locally.

Next is to make something from them. Dennis.

Is this material crumbly when you handle it? I have a mineral sample similar to the one on the photo and it crumbles every time I pick it up.

Will be interesting to see what you do with them Dennis! Do they all reflect the colour like the one closest to the 8-9cm mark?

    Hi,

The material is quite hard and the thin bits feel slightly springy. The colours are just what you see and unfortunately that was all that they had. Obviously only an idiot tourist would have actually bought it.

It will be on the back burner until I finish other things, but I shall show and tell in a month or so. Just off to the Treasure jewellery show in Southampton Row, London.

    Regards, Dennis.
