    Default Soldering Grain

Have I missed something as I can't find any soldering grain on the Cookson's website. Do they sell it - if not does anyone know where I can buy some by mail-order? Thank you!

I think Lulu means a sand like substance to stand work in to be soldered?

you usually have a tray of the suff...like a brazing hearth

anyone here use it? know where to get similar?

Yes I do mean soldering grain so you can support fiddly things together while you solder them. It seems odd if Cookson's don't have any??

I forgot to say - I was thinking of buying the new Heetrix soldering pad and you can remove the soldering mat and fill it with soldering grain if you wish - but where do you buy the grain???

erm. You can get it from the W supplier.

Or just use sand or pumice gravel. Or any silicon carbide grit (which is pretty widely available). That way you can choose the size of grain you prefer.

Thank you George! I will have a look and see what I can find - silicon carbide grit sounds good. Although what do you mean by the W supplier?? I love your Chain Maille jewellery by the way - I've seen your website before via Lynne's Dragonfly Company website, so I'm inspired to have a go myself!

Not to worry, George - the penny's just dropped!! I know which supplier you mean. Thank you for that. Lulu.
