Default Can I get away without removing the stones

I have this really lovely little band ring in 18ct gold. It's bead set with tiny angelskin coral cabs and diamond chips. It's very delicate and needs some TLC.

It had to be cut off so I need to close the band again.

I've never soldered 18ct but if I use a gallon of thermogel to protect the stones will I get away with it? Otherwise I'll be looking for someone with a laser

I know nothing about the technicalities of this Caro but knowing that coral hates heat I reckon it would be ruined. Such a pretty ring

That's what worries me. If it was just diamond I'd go for it. The ring is even prettier is real life. I bought it at pretty much scrap price but it's much too nice to break up.

I’d be worried about the coral chipping if you try to remove it. Guess it’s a laser job

Coral's wonderful stuff to work with. No heat, no pickle, no ultrasonic...

I thought it would be as sensitive as it is in the wild. My sil bought a chain bracelet from me with a wonderful piece of antique tortoishell. She showered in it every day and killed it. Ho hum

Argh. Yeah, coral's glorified chalk really when the owner has departed.

The wearer of our antique tortoiseshell has woken up again. She'll outlive us all...

So easy beginner's job then! Now to find someone with a laser. I don't want to use the local guy after what he did to my last ring....
