Default Silver paste……gone hard in the syringe

I don’t use paste solder very often at all but now I find all 4 tubes, from hard to extra easy have gone solid. Even one tube I have never opened! Please does anyone know of a way of softening or is this an expensive total loss?

Everyone seems to be complaining about the syringes drying out now.

I've been chipping mine out of the syringe myself this week. I've never used the long applicator thing but just squeezed a bit out on to my soldering pick but it's now so solid I actually broke the pusher trying to get it out.

White spirit seems to be the one to use but obviously that's only a short term fix. Others use liquid flux. I also need to experiment as the stuff is so expensive I don't want to throw it away.

Thanks….yes, it’s ridiculously expensive . Thanks for the tips. I am relieved there is a solution.

I have just ordered a new one which I plan to keep in a plastic bag with some damp kitchen paper to see if that help

Good luck! I kept mine in a plastic bag and in the cool part of the fridge….not frozen. Didn’t help.

Just mixed Soldar liquid flux with some hard paste. It has worked!

I ordered a new one from cooksons a couple of months ago, the 1st time I used it I couldnt get it out, broke the plunger which then stabbed me in the finger.
