Hydraulic bench press…..I feel sure I took photos of one I made 3 or more years ago and published here. I made it using a hydraulic Jack . I again found it a bit of a nuisance to use as it is in my garden shed/workshop and found generally a brass hammer did what I needed in my nice and warm inside workshop! I made it at a time I wanted to cut largish heavy gauge discs. I will have a trawl round …..inside….too cold and damp outside and see if I can find the pictures.

That looks like the business with those fat aluminium blocks … N

Default Hydraulic press for large disc cutter

It’s only a 2 ton Jack as it was one I had already. But by golly it works. Cost was negligible as I had the aluminium sections over from some other project.

Nothing quite as satisfying as cobbling together a home-made tool, especially when you can save a lot of money. Looks like it can handle a lot more than 2 tons if necessary one day.
I suppose it’s all about how much threads can hold before stripping.

Thanks for that China. I’ve been really enjoying my new dapping set, surprising what you can come up with when fiddling around with new tools sometimes.
    Here’s a link to my wire bead video if anyone’s interested … https://youtu.be/yEMSMa1Nj70 … cheers … Nick

Yeh I noticed that dapping set makes mine look a bit ordinary.
