I wonder if anyone has experience repairing cracks and scratches with a mix of art clay paste and lavender oil - after thoroughly polishing a piece and firing it, I noticed a fine crack along its surface, which I then infilled with the lavender paste. When dry I refired it, and all was fine, until the piece was beautifully polished and along the same crack a thin line of something white and waxy seeps out of the piece... After polishing the piece, I used Wenol and then waxed it lightly - and there is no visible scratch!
I am guessing that the repaired area remained is either more porous or more oily (if that is possible!) than the rest and probably it is the polish or the wax that then 'leaks' out - does anyone know? Any tips on how to make the seepage go away, can I dip it in something? It's for a present that is needed by tomorrow, and I can't easily reproduce it so I'm willing to try most things!
