Have just checked the latest price on 0.6mm silver sheet 100mm x 100mm today and see it has increased by nearly 42% since the end of April.
I wonder when (or if) it will come back down again any time soon!

I'm really hoping it might drop at some point this year.

The main cause is the tanking of the £. And that is not going to change. Certainly in the next year. Brexit will only make it worse. Anything imported? Buy now because it will only get more expensive as the £ continues to fall and fall

Silver prices are high worldwide (as with all precious metals ATM). As they're traded in USD, we get the additional effects of the current GBP:USD ratios.
If you want daft, look at the price of 18ct white gold vs platinum... The price of palladium has pushed the 18KW over Pt.

To be honest it was much higher about three months ago, that was my main reason for starting to play with much smaller pieces, along with using my small scrap pot as creatively as possible.

As of this writing in September 2022, I think now is an excellent time to start buying silver. We have had some of the greatest inflation possible but due to a stronger dollar, silver prices have been dropping like a rock. I am certainly stocking up for a more expensive future in all precious metals.
