Yes, this was originally a barrette, with a cannibalised finding to fix a ponytail.
But silver is so heavy, it simply would not stay in place, so ten years later, when we had a severe winter, I cut out the back plate, gave it a brooch pin instead and added the moon stone.
Now it comes out each year as a shawl pin. Dennis

Ooo, that's nice! The moonstone is a perfect addition.
Ooh 10 years Dennis, mine don’t last that long before they are remade. It’s funny I usually find that the remake is something I’m completely happy with or as near as that gets and not the piece that has given me doubts, maybe my negative radiates out to the buyer.
I have a big solid pony tail clasp and although it did work I still have it. Someone suggested a shawl clasp as another use but I need to refine it.
Last year I remade or refinished the things I thought needed it before starting new work for the OS, need to wean myself back in and do the same
It’s very wearable now Dennis
Thank you Caroline. Up to that time, no one in my circle had a shawl. It was seeing them clutching one to keep it together that propelled me into action. Dennis.
So, i finally have a couple of my reticulated spoon pieces assembled.
The first is an abstract design, the second is a specific commission for a friend and combines the textured spoon with a little copper squirrel that I've been using in some other designs.
Both use vintage sterling silver chains that were salvaged from broken or unloved jewellery.
Hazel
Aw, unloved jewellery. You've set up a jewellery rescue centre, Hazel. Dennis.
Your squirrel necklace is super fine. Did you cut the squirrel yourself? He's a dynamic wee chappie
Both pieces are lovely but I'm a huge fan of the squirrel too!
